Luon Cave (Hang Luồn)

Hang Luon Ha Long, or Hang Luon Bo Hon, or Hang Luon on Bo Hon Island in Ha Long Bay, on the land of Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam.

The cave is in the northern part of Bo Hon Island, about 14 km from Bai Chay wharf. In front of the cave is Hon Con Rua, and on the right is Cong Troi. Here the cliffs are vertical, and the water is clear and calm all year round, like a mirror.

Through the lovely gate, we come across a flat, round lake surrounded by lush trees and steep cliffs, on which groups of monkeys run and jump, ancient banyan trees cast their shadows, orchids hang down and bloom fragrantly, and under the calm, clear water is the vibrant life of marine creatures such as shrimp, fish, crabs, squids…

This area is a closed group of islands, connected to the sea by only a cave about 4m wide, 3m high, and 100m long. The brackish water lake in the cave is surrounded by mountains on all four sides and is about 1 km² wide.

On the cliffs are fossilized freshwater snail shells, proving that people once lived here and that this place must have been a deep valley. There are not many caves like this in Ha Long Bay, but perhaps what attracts tourists here is the unique and attractive natural scenery. It is a harmonious combination of mountain shapes, water and sky colors, and every tree and grass. There appears to be no flaw in nature here.

Today, Hang Luon is chosen as a top tourist destination for visitors to freely kayak or row a bamboo boat to experience and explore the beauty of the bay. Most of the Ha Long day tours, 2-day/1-night tours, or Ha Long cruise tours overnight on the bay all pass through this attractive tourist destination.
